I was thrown a bit of a curve ball this week, it was unexpected and took everyone by surprise, so I’ve turned to my poetry in dedication to someone whose strength and determination was and always will be an inspiration.
To My Mother
I shall see you when the night is at its darkest moment,
But also when the night meets the day.
I shall see you when the moon is at its zenith ,
But also when the sun is on its way.
I shall see you when the world’s at rest and people sleep,
But when their dreams keep nightmares at bay.
I shall see you when the roads have long been left in darkness,
But when the owl awakes and flies away.
I shall think of you when my strength begins to weaken,
And try to be as strong and never sway.
I shall think of you when plans I make go wrong,
And not put off forever, but just delay.
I shall think of you when I’m convinced it’s all gone wrong,
And keep on trying, there always is another day.
I shall think of you when life seems just too cruel,
And face it saying “here I stand, this is where I stay”.
So even though you’ve left this place , no longer are you here,
I’ll have your strength and hear your voice and know that you are near.
